Domestic wastewater is a result of using drinking water (and in a few cases of rainwater) to satisfy the household needs (kitchen, toilets, showers, bathroom). These waters contain suspended or dissolved solids, of mineral and organic nature, especially organic compounds of nitrogen and phosphorus and cannot be discharged into the natural environment without being previously purified.

The smallest wastewater treatment plant is able to collect and purify waste water consumed by 6 equivalent inhabitants and up to 30 equivalent inhabitants, for buildings that are not connected to a centralized sewage system and where there is a constant consumption of the water.
The treatment method, inside a treatment plant, is based on the principle that strong aeration of a wastewater (rich in organic substances) stored in an aeration tank results in the aggregation of finely suspended and colloidal matter in flakes. Flocs are the nutrient and nutritional support of bacteria, thus having a high capacity for absorbing organic substances from polluted water leading to their decomposition by microorganisms.
The general connection for the collection of waste water from the building leads the wastewater loaded with coarse, fat etc. in the first compartment where the crude decanting, the separation of fats and oil with the help of gravity and anaerobic fermentation takes place.
In the second compartment (the aerobic one) only water with macro and micro-suspensions arrives. Forcing aerobic decomposition here with the help of oxygen is an air diffuser that is connected to the air pump in the metal box mounted above the ground.
In the last stage, the water reaches the clearing compartment and after the settling stage is also gravitationally evacuated.
